The ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 4th July, will mark the community’s formal takeover of the iconic site.
Dr McLeod, who led a member’s business debate on the buyout the day the bulk of the funding was confirmed, said:
“The 4th of July is American Independence Day, but this year it also marks the start of a new era for the Mull of Galloway under community ownership.
“I am absolutely delighted that things have moved so fast and that in a matter of days from now the community will be the custodians of Scotland’s most southerly point.
“The debate I led at Holyrood was entitled “History is made at the Mull of Galloway and next Thursday will be doubly historic since it is the first community buyout in Dumfries and Galloway as well as a community buyout of such a unique and iconic site.
“I feel immensely honoured to be taking part in an event which, I am sure, will be of lasting significance for the community and for the Mull.”
