McLeod calls for nominations for Social Enterprise Awards

SNP MSP for the South of Scotland Dr Aileen McLeod today (Monday) called for nominations from Dumfries & Galloway for this year’s Social Enterprise Awards. The awards, which are run by Social Enterprise Scotland, this year have ten main categories including Innovation, One to Watch and Education & Training.

Dr McLeod commented:

“Social enterprises are an important and growing part of Scottish society and they come in all shapes and sizes from very local charities to the international Grameen Foundation which provides ethical finance for the poor across continents.

“Dumfries & Galloway, with its strong and vibrant communities will have many examples of Social Enterprise going on on people’s doorsteps, whether through community development Trusts, local charitable organisations or other businesses which are about more than profit.

“I hope that people locally will take time to look at these awards and nominate an organisation they support – it would be a great to see a good representation of this region’s social enterprises at this year’s awards.”
