Joan McAlpine visited Applegarth Primary last Friday to speak about her role as an MSP.
The pupils from Applegarth and Hutton Primary Schools have been learning about democracy, the Scottish Parliament and how it affects their lives.
The MSP explained the different aspects of her job in Parliament and in the constituency and enjoyed answering a range of questions from the children – from her favourite food, to the best part of her job.
Commenting she said:
“It’s always a great pleasure to visit schools and talk to children about my role as an MSP.
“I was very impressed by how interested and knowledgeable the pupils were.
“It’s fantastic that they are learning about the political system at such a young age.”
