DFM: INDEPENDENCE “FIRMLY WITHIN OUR GRASP”
The SNP this morning welcomed a Panelbase poll commissioned by Newsnet Scotland showing support for a Yes vote has reached 47% with No on 53% – after ‘don’t knows’ are excluded – meaning a swing of only three points is needed to deliver a Yes vote in September.
Commenting on the poll, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:
“This is another remarkable poll which shows increasing support for a Yes vote in September – the highest level of support for an independent Scotland for over a year. Only a three point swing is needed to put Yes ahead.
“This builds on the Survation poll last week that also showed there is significant movement towards Yes. It is increasingly clear that the more people engage with the debate the more likely they are to vote for independence, and that the momentum in the referendum campaign is with the Yes campaign.
“Scotland can, should and must be independent – and a Yes vote is firmly within our grasp. With a Yes vote, the people of Scotland will have the full powers that only independence can bring to make Scotland fairer.”
