SNP seek Universal Basic Income as part of COVID-19 Financial Package

SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford wrote to Boris Johnson calling for a cross-party meeting this week – after the Prime Minister agreed to meet to discuss SNP calls for a financial package for people, including an emergency Universal Basic Income and increasing rates of Statutory Sick Pay to at least the EU average.

Commenting, Neil Gray said: “We must learn the lessons of the last financial crisis. Families have already been hit by a decade of austerity, with soaring rates of poverty and inequality – we cannot allow more people to be left struggling to get by as the coronavirus crisis hits our economy.”
