McLeod urges D&G businesses to bid for Commonwealth Games work

SNP MSP for the South of Scotland Dr Aileen McLeod today (Monday) urged businesses across Dumfries & Galloway to consider tendering for contracts to work at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games ahead of a roadshow outlining the business opportunities which will be held in Dumfries’s Aston Hotel on Thursday 29th August.

Dr McLeod commented:

“Next year’s Commonwealth Games are a huge opportunity for Scotland to showcase everything that is good about our country and encourage a generation of our young people to take up sports and increase their levels of physical activity, with all of the health benefits that involves.

“The games are also a big opportunity for Scottish businesses, and with £50 million of tender opportunities still available, I would urge businesses in Dumfries & Galloway to go along to the event this Thursday and find out more about what they might be able to bid for.

“Glasgow is within easy reach of many parts of our region, so I hope that many local firms will consider tendering for work, and will go along on Thursday night to see what is on offer.”
