“Keith Brown is my choice to work alongside Nicola Sturgeon at the heart of our party. He has worked well with her as a Scottish Government Minister for the last five years and their understanding will serve both them and the party well as the SNP adapts to our massively increased membership and the new role we will have to fulfil in Scotland.
“Keith’s 4 years in charge of a local authority before he entered parliament have given him a deep understanding of what is important to local communities and the importance that people place on the vital services that local people rely on.
“I was delighted to be able to work with Keith on the delivery of important projects such as the Dunragit by-pass. His energy, enthusiasm and dedication will deliver benefits to Scotland and to the SNP and his open and welcoming manner will help the thousands of new party members feel they belong. I know that Keith will be out and about across the length and breadth of the country as Depute Leader, helping to make the party work better and I’m looking forward to welcoming him to the South of Scotland soon.
“Before entering politics Keith was in the Royal Marines and this experience has given him real strengths in areas such as organisation and leadership which he brings to his role in Government and in the party. I know he will bring his talents, experience and skills to bear in making lives better right across the nation.
“Keith Brown is my choice to fill this important leadership role in the SNP.”
