MCALPINE URGES LIQUIDATORS TO CONSIDER COMMUNITY
Last month, Scottish Coal announced that it was to go into administration, with a loss of 50 jobs in the area.
Commenting, the SNP MSP said:
“I have spoken with constituents who have been made redundant on the back of the announcement last month.
“The loss of these jobs has had a devastating effect on the community. That is why it is absolutely vital that KPMG do everything in their power to secure the best deal for mid and upper Nithsdale.”
She added;
“I have written to KPMG urging them to only consider bids that are well capitalised, with resources to invest for the future, which will not result in the break-up of the company.
“The industry and the work force deserve nothing less.”
