McAlpine invites constituent views on Local Development Plan

South Scotland SNP MSP Joan McAlpine is asking constituents to let her know their views on Dumfries and Galloway Council’s second Local Development Plan (LDP2).

Commenting, Ms McAlpine said:

“I am asking my constituents to share their views on the council’s new Local Development Plan.  The plan is important because it sets out how and where land and property will be used in Dumfries and Galloway over the next twenty years, namely where development should and should not take place.  In practical terms, the plan takes in everything from strategic decisions about access to public transport, the location of wind farms, expansion of retail parks, development of housing in Dumfries town centre or attracting business to the former Chapelcross site.

“The council has produced a Main Issues Report (MIR) focussing on key changes since the last plan and highlighting ideas for future development.  This report is going out to consultation – meaning everyone has an opportunity to tell the council how they want our communities to grow and develop in future.

“I intend to make my a submission to the consultation – but I want to hear my constituents’ views first.  Your feedback will help inform my response and ensure it accurately reflects the aspirations of my constituents.”

The MIR will be open to responses from 30 January until 24 April 2017.  Paper copies can be viewed at council libraries and planning offices during the consultation or constituents can feedback online at www.dumgal.gov.uk/LDP.  Comments must be made in writing.
