McAlpine highlights regional transport priorities to minister following A75 campaign update

South Scotland SNP MSP Joan McAlpine has written to the Scottish Government’s transport minister, Humza Yousaf MSP, following her latest meeting with the local transport activists behind the campaign to Dual the A75.

The MSP sent the letter to share her constituents’ transport priorities ahead of updates to important policy.

Ms McAlpine commented:

“I wrote to the transport minister because I wanted to highlight local ambitions for the A75 in the current context of the Regional Transport Strategy update by SWestrans, the National Transport Strategy, and Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR).

“The STPR is particularly important because it identifies Scotland’s transport infrastructure priorities in the long term.

“I told the minister that the future STPR must include the economic development opportunities in this very rural area.

In terms of immediate projects I believe the priority has to be extensive new dualling on the A75 from Dumfries to Gretna and a Dumfries southern bypass.

“I again pay tribute to Danny and Adam who have worked hard on their campaign and already achieved some amazing results for the region.”
