Labour Opposition to Council Tax Freeze Shows its True Colours

Labour’s Council Tax Legacy in Dumfries and Galloway shows the true colours of the so-called ‘party of the people’ .  For the 10 years they were in power, real tax increased in Dumfries & Galloway by a staggering 78%.

In 1996-97, Band D tax rates were £590;  in 2007-08 it had ballooned to $1,049 or 78%

Over the 10 years they were in power they increased council tax by a staggering 60% average across Scotland. That Labour are openly planning to do this again is astonishing when people are already struggling to make ends meet because of Labour’s recession.
