Independence blueprint to be the most detailed ever produced says McLeod
SNP MSP for the South of Scotland Dr Aileen McLeod today (Monday) said that the publication on Tuesday of the Scottish Government’s White Paper on Scottish Independence will be the most detailed blueprint for a nation’s independence ever produced and promises to be the most publicly accessible too.
Dr McLeod commented:
“Of course we have to wait until Tuesday for first sight of the White Paper, but it is already clear that this guide to an independent Scotland will be the most comprehensive and detailed blueprint of its kind ever published, not just for Scotland but for any prospective independent country.
“And it is also going to be the most publicly accessible document the Government has ever produced, which in my view is absolutely appropriate given the importance of the decision which faces the Scottish people.
“So although there will be an initial print-run of 20,000 copies, anyone who requests a copy will receive one. It has been produced in tablet size, to make it as easy to read in hard copy as on a kindle, iPad or tablet. It will also be available to download as an e-book. A summary document will also be available in print and online.
“Nicola Sturgeon has already given us some hints on what the document will contain. We now know that it will describe what a newly independent Scotland will look like and illustrates how the powers of independence can be used to benefit individuals, families, communities and the nation as a whole – and that it will answer a range of detailed questions that Independence supporters have been asked.
“So I hope that people will do one simple, important thing read it, compare it with any alternative future for Scotland and make up their own minds.”
