HARPER WELCOMES POLL LEAD

SNP candidate for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, Emma Harper, has welcomed the latest Ashcroft poll placing her two points ahead of Tory incumbent David Mundell.

Commenting, Ms Harper said:

“This poll is very welcome, particularly in an area which voted No – it is clear that people really do believe that the SNP will give Scotland a strong voice in Westminster.

“It is clear that our policy to deliver jobs, growth and investment in services in place of Westminster cuts has huge appeal.  David Mundell’s Tory government have failed to deliver for rural Scotland, from poor communications to the rise in foodbanks, people are ready for change.”

 She added:

“While these polls are encouraging, I am taking absolutely nothing for granted, and will keep speaking to people on doorsteps and in communities across the constituency to persuade them to put their trust in me and the SNP.

“Electing a strong team of SNP MPs ensures that Scotland has real power at Westminster to make Scotland’s voice heard – and help deliver progressive politics across the UK.”
