SNP MSP for the South of Scotland Emma Harper is encouraging community groups and local charities to apply for RBS’s Skills & Opportunities Fund. The focus of the fund is to support organisations that help people in disadvantaged communities to develop, create or access the skills and opportunities they need to help themselves, specifically in the areas of financial capability and enterprise.
RBS Group has allocated a £2.5m to be split across two funding rounds in 2017 and the deadline for applications to the first round is midday on Friday 24th February. Successful past applicants from Dumfries & Galloway include the Wigtown Festival Company and the Langholm Initiative. Grants up to a maximum of £35,000 can be applied for.
“RBS’s Skills & Opportunities Fund could make a big difference to your project or organisation, if you have a focus on helping disadvantaged people or on helping people to develop new skills.
“Time is tight though, with the deadline for this year’s first round of funding at midday on 24th February – only a few days away.
“I hope that local community groups and projects will have a look at the RBS Fund though and consider applying if they feel they meet the criteria.”
