Funding boost for Langholm buy-out
Langholm Initiative has received a funding award of up to £1million from the newly established development agency, South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE).
The project seeks to bring 10,000 acres of important land into public ownership to create the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve, enabling the preservation and restoration of a natural habitat for wildlife and birds.
The new reserve could deliver educational and tourism benefits and potentially create jobs for the area. There could also be potential commercial opportunities that could enable the project to sustain itself in the future. The group still have some fundraising to do to secure the required amount but the grant will go a long way to help them reach their target.
