Cluster of COVID cases

South Scotland MSP, Joan McAlpine, has released a statement on the cluster of COVID cases in Annan and Gretna.

Ms McAlpine says,

“The news of a cluster of cases in Annan and Gretna is of great concern and my thoughts are with all those affected and their families. From the information we have, it appears this cluster has been identified quickly through the Scottish Government’s Test and Trace programme. We are told there is a cross border element too and I am pleased to hear the authorities are collaborating well.

“We will need to wait until more information is gathered to see where the outbreak might have started. However, the important thing is to contain it. It shows the importance of being vigilant and why we must always be alert to this terrible virus and the damage it does.

“In the meantime anyone with symptoms – new cough, temperature, loss of taste or smell – should isolate right away and book a test.”
