⏰ It’s time Scotland started charting our own course with independence, instead of settling for fixing Westminster’s mess.
🏴 With independence, we wouldn’t just be reacting to damaging UK Government policies - we would be making decisions for ourselves.
⚡️️ Scotland is one of the most energy-rich countries in Europe, but we’re not seeing the benefits.
🏴 With independence, we can ensure our resources work for us - investing in a greener economy, reducing inequality, and improving living standards.
📢 Decisions made in Scotland are delivering progress - winter fuel payments, scrapping the two-child cap, and £2bn more for our NHS next year.
🏴 With independence, Scotland would have the full powers to tackle inequality, grow our economy, and invest in public services.
As soon as they got into government, the UK Government (Labour this time, for all the difference it makes) decided to cut the Winter Fuel Payment.![]()

To fix this cruel, cold mess the SNP have introduced a universal Winter Heating Payment for 900,000 Scots pensioners.

The SNP has said the Labour Party’s ‘broken promises on energy bills will hit households with an extra £470’ – after Ofgem confirmed this morning that household energy bills will rise again in January.![]()

The news comes after a week of weather warnings and freezing temperatures across Scotland.![]()

During the general election campaign, Keir Starmer promised voters "My Labour government will tackle the root causes of the cost-of-living crisis and help families save up to £300 off their energy bills" but since winning power energy bills have already gone up by 10% - £149 a year - for a typical household and this morning Ofgem confirmed another £21 rise in January.![]()

In total, since coming to power on the promise of a £300 cut, Labour’s broken promises on energy bills will now amount to £470 per household.![]()

Last month, Labour Party MPs blocked an SNP amendment to the GB Energy Bill, which would have forced the UK government to reduce energy bills by £300. The Labour Party also blocked another SNP amendment that would have forced the UK government to regularly update parliament on the progress it is making on lowering energy bills.![]()

Meanwhile a pensioner, who received the £200-£300 Winter Fuel Payment and the £300 Pensioner Cost of Living Payment last year, will be up to £600 worse off this winter, after the Labour Party abolished both payments for the overwhelming majority of pensioners, including around 900,000 Scottish pensioners.![]()
