MCALPINE SHOWS SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL MILK

Joan McAlpine MSP was delighted to act as honorary milk monitor for the day at a local nursery to promote the benefits of milk for one to five year olds.
Ms McAlpine visited St. Andrew’s Nursery in Dumfries – where she handed out milk to the children and spoke about the importance of getting these nutrients at an early age in order to grow up strong and healthy.
The SNP MSP visited the nursery as part of World School Milk Day which is organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and celebrated in over 30 countries around the world.

Ms McAlpine said:

“It is vital that children get the best start in life and improving infant nutrition is a huge part of that – not to mention the effect better infant nutrition has on improved health and wellbeing in later life
“Providing milk in nurseries is critical to this continued improvement, and we believe it must continue to be an option for children aged one to five every day.”
