Housing Bill will safeguard social and private tenants

The Housing Bill will introduce measures to enhance housing conditions, retain much needed social housing for the people of Scotland and safeguard social and private tenants.

·         The Bill will abolish the right to buy – keeping up to 15,500 homes in the social sector over the next decade.

·         The Bill will increase the flexibility social landlords have when allocating homes to allow them to better respond to the needs of their communities and make better use of affordable rented housing.

·         The Bill will establish a mandatory register of letting agents and statutory code of conduct for the profession to ensure high standards of service and consistent levels of professionalism.
