Funding for region’s food and drink businesses
The programme is available for up to ten businesses who have the opportunity to apply, giving them a head start in reaching new markets.
The latest round of the Regional Food Fund (RFF) was launched in April this year to support the development of local food and drink projects with grants of up to £5,000.
Managed by industry organisation Scotland Food & Drink, the fund is designed to contribute to the sector’s recovery from the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and raise the profile of local and regional produce.
Initiatives supported by the fund, range from food and drink festivals and events to food tourism collaborations, online and physical markets to e-commerce.
Emma Harper MSP, a champion for the region’s farmers’ markets and food and drink producers, commented;
“This is the third round of funding provided under the Regional Food Fund and I am pleased to see the involvement of such a diverse range of projects with both Love Langholm and Stranraer Oyster Festival being awarded the maximum amount of £5000 each.
“I also welcome the fact that another £5000 has been made available for applications from ambitious food and drink start-ups across the region and I encourage people to apply for this funding as soon as possible.”
“These projects will help showcase the incredible range of food and drink produced in Dumfries & Galloway delivering more unique and memorable eating and drinking experiences and provide further impetus to the sale of local produce, develop food tourism opportunities and contribute to recovery.

Stranraer Oyster Festival
Project aims to increase the ‘taste of place’ experience of this renowned festival, telling the story of Galloway’s regional food and drink, creating a focal point for local produce within the ‘kitchen marquee’ of the festival site. It will connect local producers and food tourism experiences with local chefs through recipe development and provenance narrative.
